About to buy my FIRST vintage Jag! -HELP-
okay. so here is the deal. the other day i just said to myself, i am tired of fooling around with parts jazzmasters and jaguars and japenese ones. its just time for the real deal. i have played my friend dougs 66 jazzmaster and just the feel made me shit my pants. so with that in mind. i began my search. now. i want a jaguar. i like the lenght of the neck better and the vibe. i feel way more comfretable and "in" the guitar. so it would take "the right" jazzmaster to make me hop on it. but over all, i am done with jazzmasters. also, i am not bidding on ebay. i hate the pressure and the risk of shipping and also i have no pay pal. so i stated looking at guitar shops, knowing that they may charge alittle more or in some cases rip yo off. so filling through those i found these two shops that i trust and believe the prices are okay.
1) http://www.actionguitar.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
2) http://www.guitarsandeffects.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
now i dont agree with the colors. i am a fan of weird and custom shop colors. but i do enjoy a vintage burst in nitro. i also talked to both of the guys which makes a huge diffrence to me.
here is the actionguitar.com and the guitar i am looking at
http://www.gbase.com/powered/geardetail ... em=1548922" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
its a refin, missing the cotlet, after market F plate. not to bad considering i dont have to bid an or ship and no pressure from other people bidding. they have a great layway plan, i got to go up there and tear it apart. i got to play it. talk to the guy and found out he is the third owner and he had it refin causethe guy tried selling it in the 70's but no one bought it. so it took off the sunburst and finished it natural. but to me the price isnt too bad. i mean in my case i think its worth it.
here is my other option from guitarsandeffects.com
http://www.guitarsandeffects.com/f00057fender69jag.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
now this guitar looks sooooo cooollll. but i think its a bit over priced for that year, that finish was only rare cause fender got cheaper by that year and realized they were losing it, so i dont know why they would charge more for it? but man, i love it, and B+B feels so great but i dont always agree with just how it looks on a fender. its all orig though. 69 or 65, its all orig. now i cant take it apart, though there is a 24 hour period i could, but thats to short for me. also he has to ship, that scares me a little. i didnt have a chance to play it. so. not sure
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OFFSET FRIENDS. THIS IS BIG TO ME AND YOUR OPINIONS WILL USED TO HELP MY FIRST BIG PURCHASE!!!

absolutely not on both of those guitars man, guitarsandeffects is severely overpriced at this point.
I have seen these go on cl for a good chunk less locally quite a few times.
gbase has some at way better prices.

I played that exact guitar at Action Music last week. It was nice, but I think for a refin it was too pricey. I'd look around a bit more.
Is Pat's still on sale?

Yeah, I'd agree that both of 'em are priced too high. The guy who does GuitarsAndEffects does seem like a cool guy though so maybe you could talk him down- he's an offset lover so you never know. Which would be nice because that sunburst over white is aged just right and looks cool as hell with B&B.
I would shop around some for sure, especially since crazy recession deals seem to pop up fairly regularly. That being said if you play something locally and fall in love with it- throw out a fair offer and go for it. Sometimes it's worth it to just get what you want.

Man, just send Pat a PM....
I know it's a bit of a "no do" but I hate to see a good deal go to waste and since his is the real deal, your search ends here!
