note that the stratocaster back then was listed "only" 289.50 USD and that the hard case was another extra 52 $ ...
Those are the hangtags of a Jazzmaster slab 60 I got from its the second owner, i thought I d post them because I often hear complains about the prices of guitars today but imagine what 349.50 $ was back then. for example RCA 24 inch Black and White TV was $289.00 ! a nice swiss Omega self winding watch 89$ ! a leather bomber jacket 10$ ! a 2 bedroom house 7500 $ ! and a comfortable average income around 4000 to 5000 $ ...
at the end of the day if you were playing a Jazzmaster back in 1960 you were a spoiled kid, you robbed a bank or won the Lotto !!!
If you want I d make a page with the inside of the 1959 and 1960 original owner manual, it's fun to read today.
