Nice work!!
You should rename the thread, to increase visibility. Strange to think no-one thought to add a tone knob or remove the code to make it less traceable, really.

I don't see any benefit in assuming anything at this point; it may be that the friend was just repeating what a previous owner told him.
[edit: actually, I didn't read until now that the friend said that HE had it for 25 years... which would have to be untrue, so point taken, but I still think it's better to avoid pointing fingers so soon]

Amazing.
So do you think you're going to give it back?
I mean.. the guy did only use it for one song....

I'm quite new on OSG but that's so cool!!!!!! As a big fan of SY (probably why I like JM!) it's really cool to see that OSG members are able to help SY to recover their lost instruments!

44*** is a 1959 serial #, BTW.
SY paid the person who brought back the guitar a few years ago, correct?

Confirmed when I last visited....Well then it's not been under a bed for 25 years then has it.
Knock 10 years off of that...
Thanks all!!!!!!
I knew that guitar had some serious vibe to it...
The neck is spectacular...
In the process of getting the owner hooked up with SY's crew...
Will keep you all posted...
My friend is one of the most stand-up guys I know...
I thought I heard 25 years, but he confirmed "15" when I saw him a few days ago, which is close enough to the actual 13...
This will all work out for the best, folks....

That's great. I have no idea what your friend's story or motivations or whatever are or how he ended up with it at all, but if he's helping get it back to SY's hands, then I think that's really the best outcome at this point and all that really matters.

Wonderful news Tonewood. Wonderful.
I emailed SY's guitar tech Eric, and he said that SY's mgmt was handling it.
I'm glad my hunch, turned out to be correct!!!
