I really wonder how it must feel for SY.
I mean, if my one and only JM was stolen and discovered later by some stranger on the internet I'd be so psyched out about it.
But when you own dozens of vintage guitars I wonder if I'd appreciate it as much.
Nonetheless: way to go, OSG! It's simply awesome!

wow, I'm loving this BMM aged finish...looks perfect...and I do believe the neck date is original. I hope Lee can get it back....it makes me want to paint my '61 JM w/tort in this shade of BMM...

My photographs don't even begin to show how cool that refin is...painted wood wrote:wow, I'm loving this BMM aged finish...looks perfect...and I do believe the neck date is original. I hope Lee can get it back....it makes me want to paint my '61 JM w/tort in this shade of BMM...
It's a very rich and faded burgundy that I was going to smooth out a little bit...
Love to know the story on who did the work, etc...
This whole thing has been a real bummer for me, because I fell madly in love with this guitar...
I obtained original '59 pups to drop in there, and a harness.
Was really looking forward to playing that puppy for the rest of my days...
Oh well...
It's going home sometime this week, and I'll let you know the details as they happen...

I'd tell them this, see if you can persuade them to let you keep it. I'm sure they have hundreds of vintage guitars and i'm sure they'd get a lot of respect for letting you keep it (on top of the massive amount of respect they've earned already)tonewoods wrote:My photographs don't even begin to show how cool that refin is...painted wood wrote:wow, I'm loving this BMM aged finish...looks perfect...and I do believe the neck date is original. ah yeah, I feel for ya...such a beautiful JM..
I do plan on replicating this one though...aged BMM on tort is sooooooo maybe you could build one up with vintage parts or get ahold of a refin for a decent price and replicate it too.

Wow, another one turns up. Great job spotting that!
I know it must suck to not get it after falling for it, but I'm sure Lee wants one of his old guitars back. I know I would.

Very cool story. All too often stolen guitars never get returned to their owners.
