Dudes! the LPB XII has arrived!

Post by Marc » Tue Oct 17, 2006 4:48 am

yes indeedy it's tres cool!

"Un messed with" finish - some chips and checking revealing white undercoat. Beautifully faded to turquoise - haven't cleaned it yet... I don't think it's been played much in quite a while. Stunning color even uncleaned.

One of the bottom tuners has been replaced with a Right Hand jobbie....resulting in a new hole being drilled... no biggie as I had bought 3 XII/reversed tuners on fleabay when I realised I was turning into a "12 nutcase" a little while ago  :). So will replace with a spare reverse '66 and get the hole dowled. The dowled holes at the bottom are from when Fender switched from Kluson Deluxes to "F" tuners in late 65 so that actual 'mod' is stock.

Only other thing is case (got my XII case thanks Fullerplast!!!!!)

...and finally bridge screws.... they are flat heads.... and don't understand why cos who would replace them on such an original piece?

One final thing... a pawn shop card was in the case... kinda sad someone had to let this instrument go.....

anyway pics of guitar and minor issues below!

it would be the coolest if I could, against all odds, score an XII bridge for it

that way I could eventualy get a Coronado 12 string neck or something as well, and change over the necks whenever I feel like it :)

that would rule....2 in 1!!!

Beautiful .. how does it sound/play?

Flathead screws - very weird. All the pickguard and tuner screws on the '62 JM of mine that is away for a refin were replaced with flathead brass screws .. made it look like someone's woodwork project.

I love how the previous owner decided that all 12 strings need to go through the 8 holes on the string tree!
