Re: Arlington?
it was probably stripped of it's decal back in the 70s, or when the neck was refinned.

Re: Arlington?
someone refinished the whole thing :-\ I still havent figured out how to tell if they did it in poly or nitro, but it sorta looks like nitro to me. Im going to have to find a proper decal for it and leave it out in the sun for a little bit. It just looks too new now.

Re: Arlington?
That guitar reminds me of Thurston Moore's jazzmaster.

It was a '63 and was an older refin with some (real) wear. I gave the guy a great price on it. John (zhivago) hooked me up with the buyer.
the guy was Weatherbox...a Harmony Central forumite
that was a nice looking guitar, he didn't keep it long.. I guess it didn't catch on with him. I really wanted to buy it from him but couldn't raise the money quick enough..
nearly identical to this one..

Re: Arlington?
that is kinda making me a bit sad...he was going on about how impossible it was to find a pre-cbs decent Jazzmaster, I hooked him up with Doug who gave him a great price, and then he sold it so quicklydaydreamdelay wrote:zhivago wrote: he sold the Fiesta??

I guess it was his property, but still, I feel a bit sad about it.

Re: Arlington?
yeah financial stuff definitely happens.. unfortunately I know this all too well but based on this old post I just found it appears he didn't like it, certainly didn't tell me it was "too ratty; just wasn't a very good one" :-\
I had a '63 for a short time earlier this year; I'd always had JM lust. Ended up selling it... a little too ratty; just wasn't a very good one. I'm sort of giving up on vintage ones; they've just gotten too pricey and they're hit or miss qualitywise. May yet grab a good MIJ or US RI though. When you've got a good one, they're stellar, and so comfortable. Right now I'm building a Gretsch/Jazzmaster hybrid combining aspects of both that I like.

Re: Arlington?
I bent over backwards for that guy!
That was a nice Jazzmaster and I gave him an excellent price and service. It was a '63 with an old worn red refin (kind of a cross between Dakota and Fiesta) and all correct 1963 parts. I sold it for like $1700. This was when the prices had just started to rise, and I had seen Jimmy brown refins with wrong parts sell for $2300 around that time.
As soon as he got it, he hinted at how he didn't like it much, not what he expected, etc... I told him to send it back... I would gladly refund it. I could have got at least $500 more for it on the bay. But he didn't, I guess he would rather just bitch about it. It arrived at his place with a bent tuner, so I busted up a complete set of Klusons to rush another one to him. He didn't thank me, and did not return the old one like I asked... until several emails later.
He really rubbed me the wrong way...
