Case for Fender XII

Hey guys, I apologize if this has been asked before but I can't seem to find any info anywhere.

First of all, my dad got an all original 66 Fender XII some months back but it came with a poorly made 70s made in canada case.

I've been trying to locate an original case which is proving to be difficult, they are rare. Did Fender use the same case for any other instrument?

I saw recently on ebay there is a reissue case for a Fender XII but I haven't heard of these ever so I'm wondering if that's actually a bass case or something?

That's the one I am talking about.

I don't recall Fender has ever made a reissue case for this guitar.

Is it legit or an over priced bass case? I know next to nothing about new fender stuff other than the basics.

Original Fender mid-60's Electric XII cases are unique to the guitar.

The only Fender bass that will sit in them is a Mustang Bass, but it is not a good fit & will slop around, being shorter & narrower.

However, an Electric XII will not fit in a correct Mustang Bass case.

IIRC they did make a reissue XII case, which sparked off a lot of conjecture about Fender reissuing the XII.

I remember Jerker saying the Bass VI case is the same dimensions as the XII case but I would have said the VI case is a bit larger. I could measure mine I suppose.

i have 2 x bass vi and 1 x XII and cases for all of them.
This particular case is a legit G&G which Fender would use on a Custom Shop guitar. But no CS XII exists. So G&G is making them for kicks?
Anyway, a Bass VI case is longer. A Bass VI won't fit into a XII case.

Bass VI case is the same dimensions as the XII case
'fraid not, as posted above a Bass VI will not fit into an Electric XII case (however a Bass VI will fit into a period Jazz / P Bass case)

A bit off topic, but I think that Bass VI cases to the mid 60's i.e. before the first black tolex examples, were unique, but from then on I'm not sure - were J/P Bass cases used?

Not cheap maybe, but this is about what you'd expect to pay for a new reissue Fender/G&G Jazzmaster case in Germany.

I know this is an old thread but I am looking for a case for an XII now. The link above is not available anymore. Any idea where I can get one?

Those reissue cases still appear from time to time, otherwise its a case (lol) of being patient and/or making do with a P/J Bass case. Which is what I'm doing until the real thing comes along. Used, of course.

sorry to gloat - but I bought one of those cases from the guy in the US - arrived to the UK in less than a week and is a perfect fit for my 65 Fender Xii - it was SO worth the money - if you can get a real G&G case they are ace!!
