This guitar will be going to new OSG-er Kieranplaymusic next weekend, as soon as I can get it down to him in Cork. But as I was taking photos of the guts for him, thought I'd post this up here. Kieran - you've got a Mell!

Hey! Just looking through this and saw I got a mention. Can't wait to get my first JM. Might as well start vintage 8)

It's good to see Spook - and a bit mad when you consider the rarity of old Jazzmasters/Jaguars over here!

Here's Mary. From a "2/63" loaded body I had.

From a '66 D+B Jazzmaster... sorry if CBS / Transistions don't fit in. I figured this was one was close and had a lot of cool and similar markings to some pre-CBS guitars.

YAY! Mary's here!

:D

That fits... I'm not so concerned with the CBS/Pre-CBS thing. Any Fender before '80 is fine (despite the thread title).

...from another body. I never knew what year this was from. It's probably in the 63-66 range.

I've seen that S.W. before, exactly like that but in black. I think it was on a Jag.

My early '64 JM (other pics posted earlier in this thread).

This guitar was "OK" back then and it's still "OK" today!

Here is the S.W. I was thinking of, it's in a '66 Jag trem cavity:

S.W. - knew I'd seen that before.

Also, not a true pencil marking, but the chipped out portions in the last trem cavity looks similar to my '64.

Chisel marks perhaps? Maybe some last minute gouges and clean up before paint?
Perhaps someone got sloppy?
