Re: "Triple Gold" 1962 Jazzmaster?
Actually, now I've had chance to have another look, I think the guitar on my postcard is the same as the one in the OP's photos!
If you look at the bottom right corner of the guitar body, you'll see two large, dark-coloured chips in the paintwork in the OP's photos.
Admittedly the photo in the postcard is very low-res, but you can make them out in that one, too.
The plot thickens...... or rather doesn't, because we now still only know that one of these guitars exists.

Love how the postcard turned up! When it comes to this stuff, I'm of the opinion that anything was possible. The mythical brown face twin amp...the brownface tremolux, etc. etc. put this gold jazz in the same file. No reason fender couldn't ship this out as a custom order if you ask me, even if it wasn't the norm. Then again, some dealer could have put it together w spare parts.

I can't stop lusting after this guitar! Is there any way to locate fender gold parts like the trem and bridge? Seems there is just the allparts options.

I've looked too and had no joy. Surprised Japanese ones can't be found; there have been a fair few issued with gold hardware. Tuners are about the only thing I can find. THINK I found a bridge too actually, but I'm buggered if I can find a trem.

In scanning ebay I found a 50th anniversary Ventures Jazzmaster that has nice looking fender gold hardware. The guitar has no rhythm circuit though. It's strange because I don't really like gold hardware but I now want to build a gold jazzy and the hardware seems necessary to complete the look. I will keep looking.

See, I've golded out my SQJMJM, but ideally want a locking trem. If you find one, do let me know!

looks like Fender Japan made a custom JM66G jazzy with gold hardware and locking trem. Don't know about them selling the parts separately though.
I'm thinking about purchasing one but Japan only for sales. May be for another thread but has anyone purchased through Rakuten before?

well, i don't discuss its charm, rarity, and all...
it is just something i could not play...
really bad taste guitar, imo...
if it really was a custom order then i really would know the guy who placed the order...

I really think it is a great combo but don't fancy the trem/bridge & tuners in gold.
I believe that if the hardware was to be chrome or nickel, I'd be like crazy.
Still it makes me think of assembling one like that....

I don't remember the factoey doing any special RUNS back then...special one-off colors and unique combinations for NAMM, special colors for an Artist, yes, but not a "run" like this is said to be...but, with Fender (and Gibson), you can never say never.

You should do it, and It'll look better with some chrome parts too, imho.mcjt wrote:yeah, it does look like the same guitar.
