That's a very RARE! ash body... reserved only for blonde finishes. All other JMs were alder in those years. Someone stripped and varnished this one, but the ash grain enables it to remain highly appealing. John plans on eventually restoring the finish to the original blonde.

I dunno, I think it looks great. I'm not a total purist when it comes to colours. I do like them when they look old though. This colour reminds me of the orange mustang in the other thread. The photos are nice too, looks like it's sunset or something.

I'll possibly pick one up in a year's time or something.

Black is my favorite too  . I think pretty much all guitars look better in black, with a few exceptions.

As do I.  I've never played a guitar more comfortable than a '61 Jazzmaster.
