Yeah, the trem plate covers the entire cavity. I believe this is the original finish (ash body).Unicorn Warrior wrote:
Luckily, for this Mustang, disguising this shouldn't be too hard as the mustang bridge and trem system might actually cover the entire cavity. At worse it may have to be filled. Fortunately it looks like this guitar could use a refin anyway as it's original finish was stripped away.

Yes, I forgot about late 70s mustangs having natural finishes. So really, if you don't fill the wood. You'll come out with a lighter version of an already light guitar. Sounds cool imo. Would not be hard to get this thing looking good again. As for tone, leaving the cavity there may or may not have an impact. Whether positive or negative I guess it would be up in the air and ultimately subjective.

Those were standard-issue on the earliest Seymour Duncan single coil-sized stacked humbuckers.
Pretty odd choice by SD, given the great likelihood of a color clash with so many finishes, but I think that they look kind of cool, too.

I kinda dig all the weird stuff that gets done to Offset stuff, then I really think about it, and it makes me feel conflicted.

Re: "Why did you do it? Why did you do this thing to me?"
I used to be a lot more picky with guitars, especially Offsets... Nowadays though I'd love a guitar with a Kahler, and all things equal I tend to be most comfortable on a Jazzmaster-shaped body (so giant and huggable!), so something along those lines wouldn't necessarily disappoint me if I owned it.
Even with a cheesy neon 80s finish, locking tuners, scallops, whatever. Hell, I even think humbuckers have a use on Offsets now. On that level I feel pretty accepting.
The mods that really annoy me though? Aside from chopping off random horns and attempting amateur re-shaping, Tune-O-Matics, buzz-stops and Masteries; stupid of me to get that vibe, because all of those things are quite reversible and fall very short of "butchering" a guitar. My judgmental side sees those mods and automatically decides that the guitar's owner either can't or chose not to think their way through a setup; handicapping the guitar of its existing function and sound rather than a total makeover, which is somehow more acceptable in my mind. Plus in ways, butchered guitars are often the most fun to actually pull out and play Although I have almost no interest in "modding" guitars anyway...
