I once asked him myself about what strings he played on that 50's Gretsch Streamliner he used to play. He said they were Tomastik Medium light flatwounds. Not sure if he uses that set on all his guitars, but it seems he prefers flatwounds in general.

Black/matching headstock Jaguars are tops. I'm a fan of HL too. Flat pole pickups end in '63 in my experience. I'm thinking this one is '62 or '63. Good eye!
