WOW. I have never seen one of those in OLW before! Only 3TS. But hot damn, that is a funky looking bass. The white one is definitely doing something for me!

Rare beasts indeed, my original 1965 CAR - serial no. 600002 - Bass V case is unique - below.
Do 600000 / 600001 still exist I wonder?

What the hell is going on through those glass doors? A hall of mirrors or are there really what

Over many years I have been very sad & accumulated a few CAR Fenders of all sorts - apart from the early Bass V that is.
I have posted here from time to time when anybody has raised a subject - offsets & more, but if folks are interested I will post some pics of the whole collection?
However, I don't want to hijack this thread, so how about a new CAR only thread started by another member?

I can't speak for the O.P., but now that we've established that there are a couple of Bass V's for sale, I wouldn't mind seeing your whole collection here or in a dedicated thread. In fact, I'd love it.

Ok Scott - I'm involved in a car club classic car show tomorrow, so a bit tied up for the next day or so, but will get to it on Monday (UK time)
Please bear in mind that I'm no photographer!

If you haven't met Mister Maulden 7 yet, you are in for a treat
He has a fondness for guitars of a certain type.
As you can guess by the rarity of his Bass V he has dedicated his life to the pursuit of a single goal and possibly has the worlds best collection of the type.

Still feel a bit guilty about hijacking this thread, but here goes! I also learned a lesson earlier today ...... don't try to prepare a lengthy post when there's a storm around! I had finished the post, pics / text / the whole lot, & instead of saving it I went straight to the preview, then whilst I was viewing this my cable connection went down (TV picture froze as well) & I lost the lot. Bugger ..... here goes again!!
So, I will go through this a few pics etc at a time, posting every day or so. Hope that this is ok, & let's start with some "offsets" ..... you might notice something in common about everything. I've tried to date accurately, but if I'm out by a year then bear with me. Most of my guitars etc came from the USA & Japan, but some from Europe as well :-
Tiple - 1972 / "Mandocaster" - 1969
Two rather rare Fenders to start with. The Tiple is almost certainly a Fender "employee" instrument & made to the full quality of a production example. Anybody want to hazard a guess as to where the neck came from? This was featured in a US magazine some years ago, & a member here kindly sent me a scan. The electric mandolin is one of probably only a handful of custom colour examples made at that time. These instruments are a little hard to date as the numbering sequence is unique (like the Bass V) but everything points to this having been manufactured in 1969.
From right to left - Jag 1966 - gold hardware / Jag 1965 - gold hardware / Jag 1966 / Jag 1965 / Jazz 1965
All pretty self explanatory, but the gold hardware Jags were hard to find
From right to left - the 1965 Jag & 1965 Jazz as above / Jazz 1963 - gold hardware / Jazz 1965 / Jazz 1966 / Swinger 1968
Again all pretty self explanatory, but the 1963 Jazz with gold hardware is a very early example of the CAR colour production option. What about the Swinger ...... a most odd creation ...... how many parts from other guitars were included here to use up surplus stock?
Hope that's aok.

What, no Bass VI?
I've never even heard of a
Tiple before. Fascinating stuff! Is the neck a re-shaped Fender XII?
Amazing collection!

Bass VI & more coming along soon!
Not a Electric XII neck ...... think more into the 70's ..... what else was in the Fender catalogue at the time? It is a modified neck however!
