Oh my good lord. A collection the truest sense of the word.
Never seen anything quite like that. 2 CAR/Gold Hardware Jags hanging next to eachother.
Not enough words.
Except maybe "more please".

To get things back on point, there was a guy on here years ago who had 2 Bass V's. One was sunburst, the other Lake Placid Blue.
If I remember correctly he found one of them in a skip! Maybe someone will be able to find the thread & link it here. I tried but came up with nothing.

It's a modified Maverick neck!
The earlier Custom necks were indeed modified from the Electric XII, & the worked parts were covered by a thin veneer in an attempt to hide the source, if you look carefully you can see the join between the neck wood & the veneer & the change in the wood grain. By the time of the Tiple however all the surplus E XII necks were used up, & for the Maverick model necks had been purpose made.
On the Tiple you can just make out where the the "hockey stick" profile of the headstock has been sanded back to make it less extreme. The headstock was of course perfect to add four additional strings in the gaps between the six of the production guitar.
The original Tiple was very popular with musicians in Mexico, & in the 60's / 70's there were a number of Fender employees of Mexican origin, so you can see the background of how this instrument came to be made. I found it in the USA, & the owner had bought it from an ex Fender employee (but I don't know if he had made it or not)
I will try to post pics of some more "offsets" later today.

Start a new thread. Not just to keep this one from veering away from Bass V info, I think there'll be a genuine interest in your amazing collection!Maulden7 wrote: I will try to post pics of some more "offsets" later today.
I for one love that you chose Candy Apple Red over Dakota Red, the latter of which (in my eyes) always seems to make guitars look like cheap toys*.
Or is your collection a mixture of both?
*runs for cover.

No problem ..... as I posted ..... I did feel a bit guilty about taking over this thread.
Will see if I can copy the first post over to a new thread & delete it here.
By the way, only CAR colour I'm afraid!
