Surely a mosquito, neither a bomber nor a fighter, but somewhere in between?

B-25 for the win! Hurricane/Tele, Strat/Spitfire is the best analogy yet. Don't see the Corsair as a bass or a Firebird though. It's too svelte and nimble for that. Maybe an SG or something...

Mosrite Ventures is an upside down strat with a German carve so must be an Axis aircraft. ;)

SAY IT AIN'T SO! Dude, I think the SG is arguably the best solidbody guitar Gibson ever produced. Sure, the looks are polarizing. But compared to the other stuff they made it's an ergonomic triumph. Makes the Les Paul seem about as wieldy as a brick. And you've still got those magical set-mahogany neck and body humbucking tones.....

Yeah it's weird. I started out in the butt-ugly camp. But when I got mine it just felt so good to play (baseball bat neck notwithstanding) it became a thing of beauty. The only guitar that feels better ergonomically to me is a Strat. And the SG trumps it in terms of upper fret access. Now I love the things.

But yeah, Explorers and Firebirds are cool as sh*t. And a white LP Custom is the best Paul ever...

I hear ya. Guitars used to be all about the looks for me. But now I've swung the other way, and I look for function/feel/sound in a guitar first. But inevitably function impacts form, and after a while I start thinking they're beautiful. Another case in point: my G&L Fallout. Never really liked the looks, but in every other respect it's a great guitar. Now, after a long war of attrition in the looks department I'm beginning to think it's a good looking guitar :fp:

I'm embarrassed to say that I woke up this morning keen to see where this thread had gone. It didn't disappoint!
OK, well if you guys are going to take the Tele, which I love, and make it the Hurricane, which I don't (Spitfires either, btw), then I am going to join 2 of my favourites and make the Musicmaster the Bf109.
