Great job so far! Looking forward to where it goes from here.
I finally finish building a guitar, go to play it, and then remember, "oh yeah, that's right. I suck at playing... Why did I build another guitar again?"

first off, nice repair on that body. I would have probably shopped for a used one, and slapped it together.Tumtrah wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 10:05 amLooks great with the Vibrato, but I go for Duo Sonic conversion.s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 8:57 amya know. this is going to be an unpopular opinion but might be a good idea to do something like this.

secondly, this black MM makes me miserable.
Of the 100 or so guitars I've owned, my long gone '78 musicmaster is the one i miss most.

Looking great.
I can't wait to see the next progresses
Since you mentioned you're going to restore the original colour AND a yellowed top coat, can you also take shoots of the blue prior the ageing process?

Thanks!
Hopefully I don't forget to take pics from restoring progress. That happens frequently when I am working on something.

Re: Butchered '74 Musicmaster
Unfortunately the chinese pickguard for my mustang project fits not the MM body, so I had to shape a pickguard template using the old beat up PG as a template and copying the bridge PU hole and switches from the chinese PG. Luckily a have a blank with matching colour of the old one.

I have that picture saved on my iPad, I didn’t know you were behind it! It’s a favourite of mine.

Re: Butchered '74 Musicmaster
Due to low temperatures here in Germany I do spraying in a friends workshop. Today I applied first coat of filler.
I think I have to do 2 or 3 coats with in between sanding.
