You could always graft some wood onto it. :D

I imagine patching the top on a Coronado would involve too much accidentally sanding through veneers and heartache for me.

Preferably from an old butchered Vox headstock. ;)

Yep! I like those old Popular Mechanics/Mechanix Illustrated magazines, and I don't have the room for a real planer. I used one before to modify a neck for a Musicmaster project:

I've seen that and thought it was what you referred to, but have never seen them for sale or in use.
Looks like it works pretty well for small detail oriented leveling, where can you get one?

Actually while I have a good table saw, my old drill press has a wobble that would make the saf t plane useless.
But I am in the market for a new old drill press...

Mine was just from eBay - it was in a lot of weird drill press planers, so I just sold the other ones that came in the lot to make it a little less expensive for me.

Safe-T-Planer Time! It would probably work better with a more stable drill press / table, but I got close enough to use sand paper the rest of the way (starting with some super-rough sandpaper spray-glued to a big flat sheet of wood.)

It's actually starting to get sorta Jazzmaster-shaped!

Man! What the OSG community can do to bring these old guitars back is just mind blowing!! Keep up the good work.

PMed. Parting it out, but I'm going to hang onto the neck and tailpiece. It was a pretty odd mix of pieces!

This is a truly inspired project. That guitar was nuts. That said, a teardrop that sounds like a Jazzmaster actually sounds like a neat idea. I wouldn't hack up a Jazzmaster to do it, but still...

Also..
