Bit of a photo dump here, but this will likely be the last status update to this thread until much later this year.

I have the sealer coats laid down, and block-sanded. Everything looking pretty much perfect.

The guitar gets shipped off to Joe Riggio tomorrow for paint, finish aging, new frets and final assembly. Unfortunately the best talent has a waiting list and Joe is no exception, he said it will take 6-9 months. So hopefully getting the guitar back around Christmas time would be a sweet way to wrap up the year.

I mounted the mint Spitfire guard, pickups and neck for shipping purposes, so you get a preview of this as a finished guitar. It’s currently 7.8 lbs so with the other small parts and paint, probably in the low-8 lb range (normal range for a JM).

Anyway, thanks to you all for following along so far, looking forward to seeing this finished up!

Yep! Sherwood Green with matching headstock.

A much overlooked color, in my humble opinion

Thanks!

There is really nothing left of the Duo-Sonic. All I had was one pickup and a small portion of the body (sold the former and gave away the latter to an OSGer).

Restoring the Duo-Sonic scraps would be a real Ship of Theseus situation with 90% of the body and parts not actually a Duo-Sonic.

@highnumbers I gave someone your info on IG that had a jaguar with a big portion missing from the body. Did he get in touch with you? I’m Sorry?

Another brilliant project Highnumbers. Or should I say act of restoration wizardry. I cannot wait for an update to this thread after Riggio works his magic. You’re gonna have another incredible jazzy once this one is back in the fold.

Your projects you’ve shared here are really inspiring. Thanks for giving these old birds new life and letting us all follow along in the process.
