My 1965 Mustang
Hi,
Just thought I'd share a few pictures of my 1965 Mustang I brought back to life..
I bought the neck, body and pickups/pickguard from a guy locally on craiglist for a decent price..At the time, the body had been stripped and spray painted black, and not even a decent spray job..
Unfortunately, I didn't take anypics until I was basically finished..
Everything else was untampered with.. I had to buy 1965 tuners, tremolo, and a control plate.. I didn't have the patience to wait for an original bridge or knobs, so those are the only parts non-1965. Eventually I'll change those out.
I stripped the black off, and I left the few remnants of the original blue that were still there in the neck pocket and the control cavities, and painted it a non-original green nitro:
The decal had been taken off, so I found a repro and put it on:
And here it is complete:
This is my first shortscale guitar, and I was nervous about it being so small, as I'm 6'3".. But to my surprise I can play it just fine, and am incredibly happy with how it sounds... the neck is geat, too.. This is easily one of my top guitars now...
Just thought I'd share, I wish I had taken some "before" pictures, but oh well..

I know my monitor isn't properly calibrated, but if the actual colour looks anything like what I'm seeing here, it's extremely fantastic! What a good look!

Interesting colour. I like greenish-greys, and especially blue-grey.
Any special reason why you chose that colour?

Re: My 1965 Mustang
Thanks guys!
As for why I chose that color, there wasn't another guitar I was basing it on or anything, just figured a green like that would look good..
After doing it, I've since seen a few comp. mustangs that look similar too.. I'm not sure what color they are though..

Greened Lake Placid Blue, I gather (i.e., yellowed clear coat over LPB). That's pretty much what yours looks like to my eyes. It's one of the tastiest Fender colours in my book.andrewz wrote: After doing it, I've since seen a few comp. mustangs that look similar too.. I'm not sure what color they are though..

Thanks! I just got the decal off eBay, it wasn't a perfect match over the old one, but pretty close.. (and pretty good quality).
