I love this idea!  I think though, that the Gotoh should be moved forward so that the string break point is the same distance from the front edge of the decorative plate as it is on a real XII bridge.

(I hope I explained that well enough.)

Yeah I'm working on drawing something out as we speak, but the specs diagram for the Gotoh twelve string bridge on Stew-Mac's website is all I can find, and it doesn't have nearly enough measurements for me to draw one out accurately enough.  I mean it will work for giving us an idea of what this thing will look like, but would be totally impractical for actually making one.

Paul,

My wife will bring from France a gotoh 12 string bridge base... She comes back on wednesday... I'll ask lastlol (the owner... permission to ship it to you) I think we could go this way... I think he will agree with this... then I can send you money so you can ship it back to France...

He bought one of my BASS VI bases and he also wants to build a EXII...

Believe it or not, eventually  I want to build one so... I'm more than interested on this project...

:) I just love this forum... you can always meet people and exchange ideas...

What do you think about this option?

Heh heh, yeah, mine looks about the same.

So Roberto, you mean you're gonna ship me a Gotoh twelver?  That's cool, I could take measurements.  What would be really cool is if someone could ship you a genuine XII bridge.  Your machine shop contact could probably whip some up.

Yeah That's the idea... however... I need lastlol's permission before shipping the bridge to you... Actually I just sent him a PM...

Yes i think they could quote the bridge if they have a plan/tracing/drawing... Will see. What happens.

wohooooOOOoooo! THis is so exiting!

Thanks.  Like I said, it's by no means accurate, but it does give us a good idea of what it would look like.  I'm curious to get more feedback/opinions on it.

Paul,

I think is a great idea... simple and effective. Now I just got another idea...  so here goes another of my crappy Paint drawings...

Image

1- You could get a plate cut

2- Then lift/bend the part where the saddle screws will be attached... (I still don't know how to do this...)

3- Place the saddles... now... I guess there's no way to get those saddles unless you buy the bridge itself... so I guess Shep Bush' idea and yours are the best ones...

I'm not sure if you understand the concept...

I think I get it.  Your diagram almost over-explains it.  ;D

I don't know the first thing about bending metal either.  I think that's the main thing that's stopped me from developing an exact XII bridge repro and some of my other crazy ideas.
