The photos in this thread would make the best coffee table book ever. I would buy one.

^^Agreed. Even better if Ben would also build the coffee table.

IN THE MEANWHILE...
i've returned the body back to a JAZZmaster, since it had that awful DiMarzio in the bridge.
got one of them cool Bullock pickups here in the F/S section and hooked it up - LOVING it!
SO cool the modding owner didn't hack up the pickguard. 4 little screw holes, that's all.
i bought a sheet of foamy and cut it into little strips, stacked and glued them together to the aprox. right height (need to lower the bridge a bit and un-shim the neck i realized)
i also had an old 60s pickup cover laying around (slightly other color than the neck one, but hardly noticeable). so here we go!
she'll be SO hot with the restored neck back on. YEAH!
cheers!

that's a mexican amp from the 70s, basically a dual showman clone. but somehow it makes no sound.

Well, I certainly learned a lot from this post! Excellent work!!! I'm hoping you'll do a little tinted clear to "age" things a little around the binding.

Re: ADH/Gonk/theworkoffire restoring '72 JM neck
Holy crap. And this is why I gave up on guitar making. Even at my most confident my plan was to whack this thing repeatedly with a rubber mallet then spray paint it with Duplicolor. This is MUCH better. I've always been impressed by Theworkoffire (Ben, right? I've been off the forum for a while. Names, like playing the guitar, haven't stuck around in my brain) but this is some next level jig and template handling. When I was hoping to work on this I imagined just about this very process and then thought "nah, that's inpossible, nobody could do that." Thanks for sharing this, all of you. Makes me want to fire up the ol' router again

Yup I feel the same way. I could have never achieved what Ben did on this in such a short amount of time.
