Great progress! I've read up a lot about refrets but the steaming out divots was new to me. Thanks for sharing that!
What frets are you going for? I see titebond in the picture. Do you use that to glue the frets on place? Glue + hammering the tang in? Or did you remove the tang and just glue them?
I usually don't glue my frets and I've seen other people use CA glue mostly.

There's a guy on one of the other forums that does amazing restorations on Gibson SGs an he uses titebond before
tapping in the new frets. I just followed his lead but I have to say I really like the process. It works great. Plus, if you
ever need to remove the frets again, heating the fret with a soldering iron will loosen up the titebond nicely.

The divot thing is cool. I assumed the wood was worn away, not compressed. I've repaired similar dents in rosewood boards by gluing chips of rosewood and re-sanding the board.
Makes me wonder if i could have steamed them.

Yeah, I figured it was worth a shot. I've steamed a lot of dents out of wood but never tried it on a fretboard before. I've always done the same as you, fill the missing rosewood. I use rosewood dust, a razor blade and super glue. But, I'll be using the steam method next time since it worked so well with maple. Remember to lightly score a new razor blade along the grain in the divots first. That will allow the steam to get down into the divot and swell the wood.

Thinking I might go with a w/b/w pickguard instead. It would give me more color options.

Where did you get this body made? It looks great and I've been wanting to build one of these for a while now?

Thanks. I made a template of the original body and made the body myself. The original body was in pretty rough shape. Here's where I'm at now.
I couldn't get all the stains out of the maple fretboard so I dyed it ebony and installed white side dots. I still need to paint and wire it up. Maybe someday.

The steaming out divots idea is brilliant and makes total sense- have filed this under "Why didn't I think of this?"

Thanks guys! Can't believe this thread is 4 years old and I still haven't finished this. Makes me realize I started way too many projects. Fortunately I'm down to 6 guitar projects and I promised myself I wouldn't start any new ones until these are complete.
