More progress... Getting refretted and will be 100% complete early next week!!!!
Again, it's a Jan 1967 neck, February 1959 body, and late '65 electronics. Staytrem bridge and Spitfire guard!

Re: '59/'67 Jazzmaster Restoration
To be honest, I'm pretty blown away by the work on this one. I've had a few of their bodies, one that was incredible and one that the relic was so so. Both were bought pre made. This is the first finish I've directed them on and they followed what I wanted exactly. It feels really nice too. MJT also aged the Staytrem bridge, but a couple years ago. I have a feeling this is going to be a monster player with new frets!Pacafeliz wrote:god the relic is perfect!!!

^ No way.
Thanks for going mint on this. Tort would clash so badly on FM gold, imho.

Wait a second - spitfire does mint celluloid??
This restoration has turned out absolutely perfect. That's a hell of a guitar you've got there.

Anddd we're done! Wow!!!! I cannot believe how incredible this guitar turned out. You always take a big gamble with these things and I am sure happy about this one. It's super resonant and the pickups are outstanding... I might play this more than my 100% original '66. MJT knocked this out of the park. I have a proper switch nut and I might go for some cleaner pickup covers, but otherwise, it's done! With a refret and a staytrem is plays so nicely.

They seem to be period correct, but have gotten pretty beat up along the way.PorkyPrimeCut wrote:That looks gorgeous!

Re: '59/'67 Jazzmaster Restoration
Just wondering if they'd clean up at all, with gentle solvents or something.
I know you'd normally be advised to steer clear of this kind of thing, to avoid ruining the patina/mojo. I have a '59 partsmaster myself with discoloured covers. Just not quite as grimy as yours. I only worry that new repro covers, though off white, would still look too new. I guess you could just relic them.
Just thinking out aloud really.
