How long does approval usually take? I sent the email yesterday and have 50 posts but still can't see the forum section?

Not complaining by the way, I realise people have real lives!

It normally takes a few hours, maybe up to 24 hours depending on when the email comes vs. someone seeing it and being able to access the system to make the switch. In your case, you asked for access with "nearly at 50 posts." The rule is 50 posts, not nearly to 50 posts. So you weren't promoted when you asked. Pretty simple. If you're over 50 posts now, send another email requesting access, otherwise don't waste our time.

I realise I was pushing my luck with the first request but I did send another email once I'd passed 50 posts marker?

Selling and trading on these kind of forums is largely based on reputation and trust. People who are rushing to 50 just to be able to access the sale area kind of come across as having the wrong intent of using the forum. It isn't meant to be Reverb or Ebay, but a community where people talk about stuff they are in to. The post limit is to keep people from spamming the members (as far as I know). Lots of the people here have a  reaction to a 51's post being a For Sale post.

Also bugging the mods who do this stuff on their own time isn't the best way to be either. Be chill and patient. Establish yourself with people here before you try to unload your gear or hunt down those $200 vintage guitars that are hidden in the sacred sale section. :D

Whoa there! I wasn't bugging the admins as I pointed out earlier, just asking the question as to how long it normally takes to receive access. And while I haven't racked up a huge amount of posts I've been a member for a good few years. I'm more active on other forums with a broader spectrum of guitars and can link you up to make good trader posts from there if required. I requested access to the FS section as I have a guitar that I thought the members of the forum might be interested with it being an offset. No offence meant.

Not trying to accuse you of anything, just saying what I have seen others do and that it didn't work out well. :) All I saw was that you contacted admins before you hit fifty asking for access and that didn't happen so you made a public post here about it after getting your 50th post instead of emailing them like they ask people to in their rules thread. :)

Sometimes people make these sort of public posts asking for access instead of emailing the moderators like they ask. (In uppercase. LOL) Only reason I replied was because of this. It makes it look like you were just working towards getting to that area regardless of when you joined. Not saying that is what it is, just what it looks like.

Fifty first post from you is this thread wanting in the "For sale section..."

Sorry to bump this- I actually e-mailed last year and never got approved. But I've got something I'd like to sell now and it'd be cool if I could!
