Buying another Jaguar - advice please!
Hi all, I'm looking at buying another Jaguar but I'm not sure what to look at. At the minute, I've got a Classic Player for thicker Jag sounds and a Squier VM with AV65 pups in it for a more trad sound. I also use my AV65 JM a lot. Which jaguar would complement these best to give a wide range of sounds? Do I go American Original or Classic 60s and replace the VM? Would a Marr make my Classic Player (which I love) redundant?

Try out the Marrguar and AmPro and see if you like the pickups. If you're not in love with one of those "different" pickup options, I'd consider getting a Jag whose feel you love (could be a roadworn, AVRI, AmPro, partsguar, whatever) and then do a bit of modding to keep the variety of tonal options.
There are a lot of fun options, but what I might do in your place is move the AV65 pups to the new Jag and install 4-way (Marr) switching and/or the "series mod" with stock switches depending on preference, then take the Squier Jag in a more bizarre direction - lipsticks, goldfoils, tri-sonics, something like that.
That, or you can go the full HH Jag route - lots of tonal colours to be had with PAFs, WRHBs, Filtertrons, etc.
I have way too many jags to the point that I am getting into crazy pickups to keep tonal variety - recent projects include jags with Filtertrons, Electric XII pickups, Guyatone goldfoils, Tri-Sonics, and the current project where I'm putting in Novak '61 Bass VI pickups (the strat-looking ones with the rectangular chrome mounts and big steel baseplates). Plus the Mustang with the G&L Z-coils if you want to count that.
So yeah. Jags can go in a million tonal directions, you are limited only by your imagination (and the body rout - which is why I love the Bullet Mustang and Jaguarillo's swimming pools).
