Squier VM JM Trem Arm options?
I would like to use the trem arm more, but I can't stand having it on the guitar because it just falls. I wish I could just "scoot" it out of my way and have it stay in one place. Is there anything I can do about this without replacing the whole vibrato system?
Thanks for any help

Hose clamp around the collet under the plate ...

Wow, that's beautiful.
When the trem arm is out though, won't it lose tension and the hose clamp will just fall inside?

Re: Squier VM JM Trem Arm options?
Pretty much yeah. It's more of a solution for permanently mounted trem arms.
You can also try wrapping the arm with something to create a bit of friction, like tape or a rubber sleeve.
Another option would be to swap out the collet and arm for the screw-in American Professional arm ...

Screw-in arms tend to be more position-able.
Since your VM trem lacks the lock button that is useful for setting the neutral spring balance position of the trem, you might also consider the Classic Player trem, which has the lock button and a screw-in arm (the latter bought separately) ...

Thanks, I think I'll try the screw-in arm and if that doesn't do it I'll upgrade the whole trem to a classic player.

I Squeezed mine tight with pliers and haven't had issues in the year since doing it. Also haven't taken the arm out though.

Infinitely easier method than the clamp is to hold the bar at about a 90 angle against some concrete, short side touching, and give it a single wack about halfway up the bar on said short side, giving it the slightest of tweaks and BOOM Staytrem level stability

Yes, I second the recommendation to bend the short bit slightly. I just did it to my own and I'm very happy to be rid of the Flopping Arm.
