Very nice - I like the CME spec pickups and the 250k wiring.
(I own one currently and have owned another previously) I am just astounded that they do not get the RSD brdiges.....

I’ve never heard of that finish before. Almost certain it wasn’t a custom color for vintage Fenders. I’ve not hear the name on any modern ones either, so I suspect it’s just a new color.

^ ^ ^
I did some scratchin' around on the internet and I found this:
https://www.mustangsetc.com/64-65-musta ... -palomino/
and this:
https://reverb.com/item/80477164-fender ... ocellulose
found it also on a CME Jazz Bass reissue . . .
So . . . guessing that this color might have been added to the Fender catalog in 1965.
It's a blah color IMO on the EJ strat but the CME version is "faded" and works well with the anodized PG for me.
A little off the beaten path and nuthin' wrong with that.

Looks awful on that strat imo but with the pick guard on that JM it’s pretty nice!

The gold hardware ruins it for me. I only like gold hardware on blues and greens for some reason.

Re: NGD Chicago Music Exchange JM
Per CME
Based on a set of 1961 Jazzmaster pickups, George Bland helped us craft our set to have higher output in the neck position than the bridge. The bridge pickup is slightly overwound giving it a smooth and round presence, while the neck pickup is moderately overwound giving it a huge bottom end with with round highs. Both Alnico 5 pickups are potted in shellac to give them a wide and open dynamic range, and wound with 42 gauge enamel wire. When you put everything together, you get the most balanced Jazzmaster on the market!
"Chicago Special" Jazzmaster® pickups
Custom set modeled after CME's favorite 1961 Jazzmater AlNiCo 5 magnets
42 gauge enamel wire for round highs
Potted in shellac for open wide range frequency response
BRIDGE: Slightly overwound for high end punch but still still smooth and round
NECK: Moderately overwound for huge bottom end but with clear, round highs
The guitar just arrived; it's gorgeous! Something not apparent from the photos is very subtle finish checking front and back. I asked for flatwound .11s and CME obliged with a set of Pyramids. I'll tune it up, then let the strings stretch while I go out for dinner. I love the sound of my '62 AVRI JM, be very curious if I hear any difference with the new kid. The gold hardware works supremely well with the paint and PG. Not necessarily the best choice for all body colors but a home run in this case.

I’m not aware of that being an Original Finish but it’s stunning.. The Original White Nitro finishes on Vintage 60’s JM’s turned a beautiful yellowish tint over time & looked amazing..larski wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 3:11 pmPer CME

It’s lovely! Congrats. To me that looks the same as Firemist Gold so perhaps the original car colour name was Palamino and also known as Firemist Gold.

Pretty sure that this color is a CME and FCS creation. They are starting to do that - Trash can Sparkle, sonic Blue sparkle, faded baltic blue, lavender etc..
Based on the pictures (which are sometimes pretty washed out) I would guess it is darker and browner than a firemist and will look really nice in person.

That's a great color, never seen that before. As Marc said, looks very much like firemist, but maybe has a bit more brown in it? Either way - awesome.
