Gotoh TOM w/ individual height adjustments
Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone here has tried these gotoh tune-o-matic bridges with individual saddle height adjustment.
I've been looking online for better pictures but I could only find this:
They cost around U$50 on Music Parts Plus.
I was hoping to get a better bridge for my purple Mascis JM and I'm intrigue by this one but it's a bit costy.
So I thought I'd ask you guys if you know these at all.
Thanks

I have one of these on my First Act VW Garagemaster. Excellent bridge. Works great with my fake bigsby Trem I chucked on there, too...
it's surprisingly light.

Is it better than the Mascis bridge?

Re: Gotoh TOM w/ individual height adjustments
the only thing that is cooler about the gotoh, I would say, is the individually adjustable saddle heights. Opens up more options for you neck-wise, since you can change the radius. I think the adjusto's (at least the J Mascis ones) are locked to 9.5"

Yeah... I've been considering this one... the TOM on my Mascis rattles a bit.... it's almost unnoticeable, but after I first noticed it, it just drives me crazy now!

Re: Gotoh TOM w/ individual height adjustments
I just got mine in the mail...
Haven't yet tried on the guitar... It looks solid... the saddles do no sit on individual grooves like regular TOMs... It even seems like Jazzmaster saddles would drop in there just fine... I don't know if there's be enough space for them to move back and forth so that the guitar would intonate well...
Anyways... I'll give it a go as is some time soon... and if anyone's still interested I'll report back...

Re: Gotoh TOM w/ individual height adjustments
Interested to see if it can:
1\ Fit the post spacings.
2\ Accomodate a 7.5 inch radius, seeing the ones I saw were designed for a Gibson type 12 inch radius.
At least they are not pricey.

Re: Gotoh TOM w/ individual height adjustments
Let me try to get some pics now...
It looks like it could be set up for 7.5 radius... I don't have my radius gauges here but by just messing with the height adjustment screws and eyeballing it... it seems like it has enough room...
I bought mine from ebay for U$45 (free shipping to the US) I think...
Hang on... I'll see what can do with my little camera...

Re: Gotoh TOM w/ individual height adjustments
Here are some pics...
Side by side comparison with a JM bridge (MIJ)
Post to Post spacing seems to be 73.5mm or 2 29/32 inches
Close up of the saddles. The height adjustment screws will take a hex key
They come with pre slotted saddles but the grooves are very shallow
on both sides of the bridge, the holes where the intonation screws go through are oval shaped... so that the screws will raise along with the saddles
total string spacing (measured from the slots on the saddles) is 52.5mm or 2 1/16 inches
each saddle is 10mm in lenght (13/32 inches)
side view
the post to post spacing seems to align fine with the JM bridge
I will double check on the radius and let you guys know...
Let me know if you have any other questions...

Yeah, thanks for the snaps.
Are you going to float it or fix it? ie, fulcrum or tom style.
