with the block inlay - possible and likely - Block Colors - rather than metallic? ... well it says something. My fingers are crossed - they will be sound.

It took me a while to see this topic just because I thought it was about the pawn shop model.

Really keen to see how this turns out!
Until then I'm happy with my (gazillion $$$) 2012 MIJ Bass VI.

The cost of the pawnshop model would probably be the ideal cost / quality trade value in comparison to what you would expect from these models, yet these are infinitely more desirable because they appear much closer to what you expect from a Bass VI.

I might be wrong though.
The cynical side of me says exactly that: they brought out the PS model first because a lot of people who'd be wanting a bass VI for years would buy it, regardless of it's Frankenstein aspects. If the Squier was announced at the time, most people would've plumped for the Squier and so the pawn shop model wouldn't have sold all that well.

The other way of looking at it is fender looked at the popularity of the VM jags/JM's and the popularity of the PS bass VI (I've heard more than a few times that the PS bass VI was flying out of stores at one point) and saw a VM bass VI as a natural way to extend the range and capitalise on it's success.

well put - and wholeheartedly agree.

Will probably be very nice.....BUT...let's be real.....a $350 instrument is a $350 instrument. Compromises must be made for Fender to produce it and make a profit. Best used as a "banger" or mod platform imo.

The Guard /Switch arrangement on the Fender PS Bass VI was awful and disappointing - so glad I opted out. Fender Squier again will make a killing as well as open new doors to creative folk. Capitalism can sometimes be rewarding for everyone. Much looking forward.

I've been waiting for one of these for a long time, I got a jag baritone when it first came out, but a VI is what I really wanted
