In for the Jag if the pickups are as good as the AVRIs. If not - 60s Lacquer instead.

Re: 2017 AMERICAN PROFESSIONAL JAZZMASTER/JAGUAR
What they Got Right - 22 Frets on the Jazzmaster and Witch Hats, I kind of do like the 3-way switch on the Jaguar, Maple necks
What they got Wrong - for me, no Rhythm circuit. On the Jaguar, the minimal switching really defeats the purpose of that upper plate, they could have put a Push/Pull on the tone knob like I have for the coil split on my CIJ's cool rails.
But then I'm not in the market for a new Jaguar or Jazzmaster anyway. The next Jag/Jazzy I'm planning is building a copy of Ric Ocasek's pink one but with an A width neck, 22 frets, a stock bridge with my mod, and phase reversals, and possibly a custom spring-loaded pivot for the bridge. I most likely will do that from scratch. Might put the Alberto Vargas pinup on it too (Candy-O!!)

Probably still need a Staytrem or back to vintage bridge if you get along with those. Sure looks like wide spacing with the E strings practically off the fretboard.
I can't live with that as the high E gets pulled off the fretboard during certain licks. Solid effort overall on the bridge, but playability issues with the spacing let it down.

Just a reminder... a set of AV65 pickups is only about $80.Unadan wrote:In for the Jag if the pickups are as good as the AVRIs. If not - 60s Lacquer instead.

Good question. I have a feeling these are going to be added to the Mod Shop, so that may be the way to get a lefty model.pjennings wrote:Cool, but will they be available left-handed?

Such a shame about the fretwire, which are narrow jumbos. Too tall for me, so I won't be buying one of these. They look nice, though!
Interested to hear the new pickups, in any case.

An aggressive fret level could solve that, fwiw.sunburster wrote:Such a shame about the fretwire, which are narrow jumbos. Too tall for me, so I won't be buying one of these. They look nice, though!

Not to derail the thread, but I'm curious about your mod. Any chance you have a pic or a link?Mad-Mike wrote: ... a stock bridge with my mod...

Well the purpose of the upper plate has always been aesthetics... it's not like you need that plate for those switches, the jazzmaster has them on the pickguard.Mad-Mike wrote:On the Jaguar, the minimal switching really defeats the purpose of that upper plate,

Re: 2017 AMERICAN PROFESSIONAL JAZZMASTER/JAGUAR
The only two things I don't like at all about it.
1. The location of the 3 way switch. I just don't like them on the upper horn. I prefer them in the normal position.
2. The truss access at the headstock. They should have used the truss wheel at the heel. That would have made it perfect.

B, do you know of any plans for new basses? In particular, the Bass VI and Jaguar bass.B wrote:

I have seen photos of American Pro P and J basses, but the Jaguar bass seems not to have made the cut.Birdman14 wrote:B, do you know of any plans for new basses? In particular, the Bass VI and Jaguar bass.B wrote:
