You have been very fortunate in your music listening if this is one of the worst songs you've ever heard.DesmondWafers wrote:Legitimately one of the worst songs I've ever heard. I actually have no idea who this guy is, but holy shit, that was painful to even thumb through. I can't imagine having to hear it start to finish.

Shit, I'm getting old then. Guess I better start popping out kids if I'm going to keep listening to Green Day and Wilco hahaMKR wrote:i thought green day were dad rock.scottydanger wrote:One of the youtube comments called this "if Green Day were dad-rock" and I think that really nailed it. It's kind of like Vulfpeck in the sense that I enjoy it as long as I'm not looking at the band.

Not the worst, but pretty bad. Doesn't stand on its own merits.

OSG is full on dad rock nirvana, lots of reminiscing and pining about the good olde dayes of the 90's.

It's not so bad here, David. Your casual distain for the musical tastes of this place is cute and all and certainly a well-enjoyed running gag but if you think this place is bad for that, you have not spent time... Well... Anywhere else even remotely music related. This place is like a breath of fresh air in that regard.

I think you need to go back and listen to Wilco again.StevenO wrote:I don't like it, but it's not totally offensive. Not lightyears away from one of Wilco's more "rock"-like songs. It's the kind of dad rock that older millennial and the children of baby boomers listen to and raise a family around.

Re: Joe Scarborough uses a JM
I watched it live (well live on Oz TV at 2AM) and half way through (maybe even 1/3 the way through) I turned it off.
It wasn't that it was offensive, or crass or {insert idea here] ... it just wasn't very well written.
Musically I cannot even remember anything from it, the lyrics were like what one scribbles down on the tissue box while you are waiting at the lights, so you don't forget the melody you've just thought of... but knowing that the lyrics you have written will be changed immediately when you get home .... but he kept them instead.
And seriously ... no wanting to offend anyone... but what is this "Daddy rock" shit you are all spouting about?
I know no father that forces their kids to listen to music like this ...
and yes, let's leave the 90s where they were... you guys remember the good stuff (all 10% of it), all I recall from the 90s is the other 90% that was crap.

Dad Rock is just something we all call music we don't particularly like but is enjoyed by a certain segment of any given population, particularly that of that "dad" age group. It's just a way for people online to qualify their own tastes and hide insecurities. I do it all the time!

I have a surprising amount of those Herb Alpert records and they're great! So I approve.

It was fine. Not my thing. I won't be buying any of Joe's tunes. His band was fine. I find it amusing that he's quitting morning TV to make a go at music but I did morning radio for 10 years and getting up at 2am for work AND trying to play music is really hard. Good luck to him. Nice guitar too btw. I love my AV65 JM.

Yeah, I really don't see what was so bad about it. My one quibble might be the cliche of the black chick backup singers, the usual smokescreen for the middle aged white guy that can't really sing, and a cliche that I thought had been laid to rest.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.
