Elevator Operator, Illustration of Loneliness, Depreston, Kim's Caravan (from "Sometimes I Sit ...")
Avant Gardener, History Eraser (early EPs)

I saw Jen Cloher's band play in Brisbane recently (her recent album is fantastic) and was mightily impressed by Courtney's playing. Have always loved her songwriting, but she's become an awsome player too - she was wild live, bashing away at the strings with bare fingers.

Wow... For some reason I thought her music would be very mellow and soft but I'm listening to "Sometimes I sit and think" for the first time and there's some serious badass tunes in there. Great guitar tones as well
Live she goes even harder too. I remember being prepared for a sort of chill indie rock show and being blown away by how much more aggressive everything was. She totally brings it and it made me love the album even more.
Well... Time to spam her with the good old "plz come to Brazil"
lol

The Sea of Peas double ep is what got me into her. That's a must listen. I'm surprised no mentioned that. Avant Gardener is off of it but the whole thing is great.

I only had a chance to listen to the first two songs on her new record this morning but thought both were very good. The first one in particular was straight early nineties indie/alt rock which I can never resist.

Just realised Courtney’s red jag is painted like her new LP sleeve which is silver inside the gatefold where the lyrics are printed.

Yikes I guess even a callus is not enough to protect from the rock.

Reviving an old thread, I was trying to find more information about Courtney’s red Jaguar on google and it turns out (according to this article, at least) that it was made by the Fender Custom Shop!

https://thehub.musiciansfriend.com/arti ... r-and-more
“One of the first albums I got was Nevermind, and I think that was probably around the time I started playing. The album as a whole was one of my first proper music experiences, you know?” Barnett even carried that influence into the design of her own
Fender Custom Shop Jag—a Cobain-style, dual-humbucker model, which she keeps strung up with Ernie Ball Slinkys, a preference dating back to her time working in a local guitar shop.
