Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar Lake Placid Blue Release
I just saw some footage from Johnny's gig in Paris earlier today and he's now using that LPB Signature Jaguar live.
Don't be confused from earlier this mini-tour when he was sporting the LPB Jag with Ed O'Brien pickups which he was only using for two songs (Hi, Hello and You Just Haven't Earned it Yet Baby).
Now that LPB Jaguar with the regular Bareknuckle pickups are in rotation at least for There is a Light That Never Goes out!
Just a heads up for those who are waiting to see if they should buy a current color or wait till they release the Lake Placid Blue. It seems to me almost certain that Lake Placid will be the next color release.

Yeah, that's right after he had to tune to completely different tuning for Headmaster Ritual.

Cool video. I like LPB on Strats but for some reason it looked weird on his Jag. I'm sure the color is right but I'm not sure if I like that for a jag color.

Re: Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar Lake Placid Blue Release
There are a few variations on LPB. Straight out if the factory I find it a bit too vibrant. I had a real '65 JM in LPB (see avatar) that was bright and had only yellowed in a few places. I also owned around the same time a '65 XII in LPB and that had yellowed to a green colour which I think is sometimes mistaken for Ocean Turquoise - that one I really liked. I like the poly LPB on some of the Japanese Jags from around 2003/2004 that was a bit less in your face.
From the video, it looks like a 'green nitrate' repro guard is on the new LPB Jag which is an improvement over the bright white guards on the KO and White Marguars. If I got a Marr Jag I would probably go for the Orange and fit a green repro guard the colours go well together.
I do like those real green celluloid guards - there is something about them which is hard to describe which you don't get with the vinyl repros even if the colour is spot on. Vintage ones used to cost a small fortune - I once paid nearly £300 for a NOS 64 JM guard. It seems as though someone finally found a manufacturer who makes the real celluloid in the right colour and there are several people offering excellent repros now. Consequently, no one is mad enough to pay crazy money for a real one now (£800+ for a Strat pickguard?? ).
I imagine there will be production run of LPB Marguars made available - it seems as though every new colour Johnny has been given has turned up as production in LTD numbers.
When finances improve I will get a Marr Jag - I played Jags for a good 10 years before I changed to Jazzmasters and there simply things only a Jag can do The Marrguar is pretty expensive and I'm sure the price has gone up by at least £500 since they were first released. But his model has everything I would want if I got another one. The only thing I was less keen on when I tried one out was the neck profile is on the larger size (for a Jag). This felt more like the '66 and '68s I owned. I owned a couple of early '65s for several years and they were quite skinny in comparison and I really liked that.

Yep. I skipped to that; and I guess that's where I signed off. What's to see after that?edwardskim wrote: ↑Thu May 24, 2018 8:40 pmYeah, that's right after he had to tune to completely different tuning for Headmaster Ritual.

I saw that video, found that shade of blue to be absolutely amazing on the jag, but I was just assuming he had it custom made for him.
Jaguar > Jazzmaster :)

If people follow Johnny on instagram, have you noticed the sig jag he's been playing that's painted like a champagne cream sparkle?

Re: Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar Lake Placid Blue Release
For now he has. Actually Fender has made him other custom colors of his signature Jag that he hasn't played live yet. He also has a Candy Apple Red he played live earlier this mini-tour. But I think he's pushing his LPB more and it coincided with the 35 minute interview he just did with Fender last week. And now he's playing the LPB in his live set.

The LPB guitar is brought up towards the end of the interview, where Johnny Marr starts to spill the beans about the possibility of its release, but the interviewer proceeds to interrupt him and change topics ...
