Don't understand why they would put the tremolo in the correct position for the Jag but not the Jazz....weird, lol!
The exact same reason you'd put a trem on the Blacktop Jazzmaster but not the Jaguar.

Not sure what to think about this, but seems fairly grounded in fact:

Would be interested to hear from others though who have first hand experience of the new models.
OP isn't really posting pics.
Yeah it would be good to get some more hands on opinions. I really like the look of the tidepool jag
Looks like they finally added some.

It’s precisely because you want a traditional trem placement that it is not placed in the traditional spot. If it were, you would have less incentive to consider a more expensive model with a traditional trem placement.

I gotta say, of all the things Fender ever did to jags and jazzmasters, the one thing I never gave a shit about is the trem placement! Modern or traditional, it's usually the last thing I notice, I never thought it disrupted the look or really changed anything about the guitar.

See the JMJM that people usually rave about... they don't even care about the trem placement because the guitar is so great. I think that it's only an issue when the guitar is wrong already and you go "oh and also the trem is closer".

That would never be a deal breaker for me. However I found this JM with humbuckers so uninspiring, it doesn't matter where the trem is. It looks so much like a jagmaster. I have the HH squier fiesta red jag, and the fact that the HB's are zebras make it so much more aesthetically pleasing and balanced IMO. Even in the KC Jag, the cream humbuckers with the rings and all the chrome give it the feel that there's too much going on, but in a good way. I think the plain cream / white HB's in these JM's look fugly as hell, and cheap.
Jaguar > Jazzmaster :)

^^^ I've chuckled about this frequently......especially when I read negative trem placement comments about my 50th Anni Jag, which is the best Jag I've played (after a change to Vintage 65 pickups). I don't ever play behind the bridge, and as far as correct "harmonic length" or whatever, the distance from bridge to trem is exactly the same as on my Proline Gretsches.......and I never hear or read about trem placement problems or "mistakes" with those.

Then there is the new G&L Doheny, which seems to be getting some good reviews......

I don't necessarily care where they place the trem, I just find the inconsistency in the placement between the two models as odd...

Like someone said above... They probably just found a lot of forgotten parts and had to use them for something.

the red one also has a locking trem which i would much prefer?? whats with all the differences
No trem lock nor small headstock in these photos of guitars they actually have in stock:

https://reverb.com/item/13197499-fender ... -sonic-red

It'd be interesting to hear a retailer's response to your complaint if you ordered the one pictured in the stock photos and received the one they ended up manufacturing.
What the fuck they’re all different

I got a kick out of this line, then I went ahead and bought the guitar anyway. A couple nights ago I was scrolling through the http://offset.guitars gallery and stumbled upon a couple pictures that got me thinking about previous designs that led to the Player spin on the Jaguar. I could obviously be way off, but it seemed interesting to look at what you could call Fender’s “design language” that leads to these less traditional Jaguars.

Most mainstream reviews I read referenced Kurt Cobain’s Jag as an inspiration due to the humbucker in the bridge and that was as far as they went. Other signature models that seemed to inspire this design are the Marr (because of the Tele switch—even though it’s a 3 position instead of a 4) and the Lee Ranaldo JM (not an exact match but the colour scheme and plainer pick guard really caught my attention) (https://offset.guitars/the-gallery/jazzmasters/2009/). At first I thought the amp style volume and control knobs were inspired by the 2012 MP P90 (https://offset.guitars/the-gallery/jaguars/2012/). A little more digging and I discovered that there was a 1972 Tele that used the same knobs (not sure if that was a first or not).

So is this Jag just a collection of leftover parts or a remix of some classic Fender designs? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess, but it works for me.

Well I was talking about the body only, really. Since they're MIM maybe they used some leftover bodies from the CP series, that could explain some of them coming with modern trem placement.

I didn't really like it at first, but it has "aged" well. They're not ugly guitars! In fact they have the right amount of traditional specs coupled with sensible improvements (Tuners, switches and bridge). I think more chrome wouldn't hurt anybody and the small humbucker still looks kinda odd.

Oh! And that P90 version you just linked looks BEAUTIFUL

I see what you mean now. Still thought it was a funny line.
