I dont mind at all if it is a great Squier approved by Mr. Shields. If it somehow respects the original... I’m game.

Thats totally a reissue bridge. But yeah, its a JM bridge instead of a Mustang or anything else.

That album cover is beyond classic. :-* Cool to see this guitar sans obscurity.

How can you tell? (I'm genuinely curious.) The saddles look old and rusted. It's not a Japanese bridge because the screws are too short. American reissue bridges weren't available until 1999. So do you think they put a reissue bridge on it after 1999? Or maybe kept the saddles from the original and put them on a reissue bridge?

The holes where you adjust the height are a giveaway. The old bridges had mounds and a smaller hole if I remember correctly.

The neck on a 59 JM is so different than any other JM I’ve ever played. Very thin and wide. So rad. Not like I expected but very nice to play.

WOW! So much goodness in this video!
Whilst there's no mention of a possible signature model just yet it's still an excellent and rare interview with the man himself!
.... 25 jazzmasters and he "needs more" ;D
May the Fuzz be with you

At the outro I was thinking, wow he really nails that tone.

Looks like the traditional JM bridge on all his JMs! As a fellow fan of this bridge, this makes me smile. :)

Exactly. Thats the first thing I always notice. Non vintage saddles could be worn from use. I had a 90s Jaguar that had pretty grungey original saddles. Depends on a lot of factors but they can corrode pretty easily.

I was waiting for someone to make that joke! (Thankfully the joke didn't also take 22 years.) :squint:
