I wonder if it uses a Jaguar/Jazzmaster style pivot? I think that's a more stable solution than having the pivot points directly on the plate if so. Also looks like the bridge is more 'forward?' Or may be a scaling issue.

I didn't realize these were already for sale. Reverb, Sweetwater, and Musiciansfriend all have them up on their sites. So... who's getting one?

Oh, and there's this video, but no mention about the Mustang whatsoever. They did show a closeup of the new trem while the guy is talking about the Jazzmaster, though.

This is something that has been puzzling me lately. I want a Mustang bass & was excited about this line over the PJ bass version but then they've just added the Jazz bass pickup to this one so is this the MJ bass version? The only difference I can tell, other than the pickups, is the colour options & that they are string through. Doesn't seem worth the extra $400 for that. Am I missing something?

Saw one today in person. The Trem does look like the example in the photo. It isn't a bad photoshop job.
Was surprised to see the trem didn't have the "Fender" stamp on it. Extra screws in there too.

Maybe they will reuse them for Squiers? Only thing I can think of. Still doesn't make much sense though.
They are made in USA.rank wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 9:13 amThis is something that has been puzzling me lately. Re: Fender American Performer Mustang & Mustang Bass
Played one of these at Guitar Center tonight. I hate to be negative, but I thought it felt really cheap. The neck had that sort of satin finish that I associate more with Affinity series Squiers. I also had a very hard time keeping it in tune, and the fret ends were sharp at a couple points lower on the neck. The GC setup may have been to blame for this. I didn’t plug it in (I usually don’t at guitar stores), so I can’t speak to what the pickups are like. The finish looked nice, though!
I was honestly pretty disappointed, but it may have just been a dud. Minutes later, I played one of the Performer series Tele’s and I loved it; felt really good, stayed in tune, and the neck had a higher-quality satin finish, as well. So, there is still hope for the series, I would say. Either the Mustang I played was a pretty bad one or the Tele I played was a great one. I would be happy to try more of both, but my first impression of the Mustang was not very good.

I also dislike satin necks; they do feel cheap. But the vibrato appears to have two main improvements:
- Separate beefier pivot from the vibrato plate
- Is that a locking pin?

It's not obvious to me what the new metal thingy under the bridge does? Any help?

Looks like it supports the poles? Should add stability as they rock in the holes. I could be totally wrong.Stephen_42 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 3:23 amIt's not obvious to me what the new metal thingy under the bridge does? Any help?
Think this would drop in into an older mustang? I’d LOVE to use this vibrato on mine. Maybe just with a touch of routing for the new rectangular piece?
