NGD: Lush Closet Classic Jaguar

Post by Pacreamer » Wed Dec 12, 2018 5:21 am

This might be a bit preemptive; sorry for the poor phone pics, I’m busy playing this great guitar! I’ve gone through a bunch of Jazzmaster recently. They were all excellent instruments but something just didn’t click. I was finally able to sit down with this Jaguar tonight. Maybe it’s the scale length? Maybe it’s the RSD bridge? Maybe it’s some weird shit in my head that just makes one click with a new guitar; I clicked so hard my girlfriend asked what that sound was...

I’ll follow up over the weekend, hopefully, with some deeper insights. If you all have any questions, feel free to ask! I’ll do my best to get back to everyone.

Gorgeous! Is this your first Jaguar? Or can you compare its sound to other models?

One of the best colors for a Jag. Goes really well with the chrome.

This is my 2nd Jaguar. The first was also a 1964, but an original one. It was kind of beat so I can’t compare it to this guitar. This guitar sounds so very tight and cohesive when not amplified. When I plug it in, it’s tight and punchy, it’s a very articulate and dynamic guitar.

Compared to the JM’s I’ve had, some with Mastery’s, some not, this guitar is the perfect amount of high end brilliance that I love! Not quite sure if it’s due to the RDS.

I should also say that with my previous Jazzmasters, I've always wanted more top end out of the instrument. Sometimes even the bridge pickups were just a bit to round sounding to me, if that makes any sense. I guess I was just always a jaguar guy after all....

A Jaguar that works for you is a fantastic instrument to have.
This one certainly looks the part!
I'm curious about the tonal effect of this bridge.
Would it be comparable to a staytrem bridge?(full and woody?)

Love that colour on the Jaguar. Im the same - being a huge Sonic Youth fan I really want to love Jazzmasters, but I find I prefer Jaguars for some inexplicable reason.

Enjoy!
