For those who have made this upgrade what do you recommend? Bone, Brass, Graphite?

I’m looking at the Axemasters solid Bone and Brass nuts made specifically for the VM VI. Anyone try these?

Did you install the new nut on your own?

I had an Axemasters brass nut on my old Squier VI. It fit like a glove and was a major improvement over the old rubberthingie they put in there from the factory. I sold that VI but just got a new one which is being refinished atm. I want to replace the nut on this one, too. I think I'm going to get a bone nut this time, though, as it is harder and should theoretically have some more overtones than the brass nut. To put it short: I can recommend the nuts from Axemasters for the Squier VI.

What color are you getting done?

not quite the same but i have a bone nut on my baritone jazzmaster and it sounds pretty damn good.

More than welcome. Also installment is very easy: Put a wooden block against the old nut from headstock side and give it some light taps with a rubber hammer and it will just drop off. Be careful! I once did this in the other direction and the laquer on the fretboard in between the nut and the headstock came off with the nut, so always go from the headstock side. Then just put in the new nut with a drop of superglue.

Haha, sorry, English is not my first language and some things are hard to explain for me... um, so, you can either put the wooden block against the nut coming from one side or another. On one side is the neck and the rest of the guitar, on the other side is the headstock. That's the side from where you put the pressure on the nut.

So I installed the AxeMasters compensated Bone Nut with success! Your tips made it real easy!

The original nut gave me a bit of a fight but with a few good taps and some pliers I was able to get it out without any damage.

It wasn’t until I got it out that I realized how awful the original nut really is. That thing is as soft as a block of cheese! Horrible!

All set now, The new Bone Nut is solid!

I need to order one as well but the shipping costs to Germany are more expensive than the actual nut.
I tell you, this VI is a money pit...

I'd been on the fence and hovering over their bone nut listing on eBae, wondering if it'd fit as claimed. After reading your post, I ordered one. Surprisingly, it's already here! It does look like it'll be a very good fit, so thanks. I'll post an update with pics after Install it, this weekend.

Took about 5 minutes to install. Fits like a glove and wow. I can't believe I waited so long to upgrade that horrible stock nut! That low E that was never "perfect" is a whoooooole lot better. Like, a lot. I'm super happy!

Ordered mine a few days ago. Excited since the stock low e was absolutely awful.
