Re: What’s the reissue jazzmaster to get?
I'm unaware of anything other than an "American Vintage Re-Issue '62" (AVRI) and an "American Vintage '65" (AV) guitar. I don't know where this "AVRI '65" talk is coming from- someone can let me know if there's something I've missed.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

The confusion is most definitely mine, I am the one who is making this confused. There is no AVR I 65, I just screwed it up, I have deleted it from my list and my brain.

Well, it is very confusing, don't feel bad... I was wondering if they'd made something that would be called an "AVRI '65" or not myself.
Good luck with your search however it ends up.

Re: What’s the reissue jazzmaster to get?
After playing all the new ones I settled on an AV65 as it's as close as you can get to an original... I compared it to my friends original Vintage JM... I decided I didn't need a Custom Shop for $3500.00 - $4000.00....
Custom Shop are pretty pricey.... You might get lucky & find a Used one... But, I doubt it's any better looking, playing & sounding than an AV65....

The American Original has binding tooboytbpc wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 9:59 amSo far we have:
- American Vintage Reissue '62(7.25", no binding, no matching headstock)
- American Vintage '65 (7.25")(7.25", binding, matching headstock)
- American Vintage '65 Thin Skin(7.25", binding, matching headstock)
- American Original (9.5",no binding, no matching headstock)
- ‘58 anniversary (7.25",no binding, no matching headstock)
Is that list right?
- Troy van Leeuwen (7/25", matching headstock, binding, matching headstock
What's the difference between the AVRI'62 and AVRI'65?
Online reviews seem unanimous that the AV'65 is superior in most ways to the AVRI'65, any dissenters?
Is the TVL a signature version of the AV'65? If so, besides the switch, any other differences?
What is the difference between the Thin Skin AV'65 and 'normal' AV'65?
Thanks for the help!

Well, I don't think the Troy Van is an American made instrument, right? Which is fine with me but if we are including guitars made from other than the States, we should be including the Japanese and Mexican made instruments which is a whole nother situation.

I can only speak to the AVRI ‘62, as that’s the only one I’ve owned. I don’t have a bad word to say about it. It’s a great guitar. The 7.25” radius is my preference. I don’t get why anyone would object to that radius.

I was fine with 7.25 until I started playing Gibsons. Now I find going from 12 to 7.25 is a drastic difference.
12 to 9.5 is not so drastic.

Re: What’s the reissue jazzmaster to get?
I have an American original now. If you like the more traditional neck radius a 65 Reissue may suit you better. I am not a huge fan of the 65 RI pickups (but that is subjective) In general both will be better than the 62 Reissues in my opinion. The bridge is a bit more stable and also the break angle has improved. Overall my American Original feels and sounds much better than the thinksin JM I used to own

Re: What’s the reissue jazzmaster to get?
I agree. But I still like the 7.25 better. It's just makes me spoiled for the 7.25 when I want to play a different guitar.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 12:22 pmI was fine with 7.25 until I started playing Gibsons. Now I find going from 12 to 7.25 is a drastic difference.
