JM66 Pickguards

Post by VIVIVI » Mon Jun 10, 2019 7:33 pm

I've been using a special edition LPB Classic Player for a while now, and decided that I want a vintage-correct Jazzmaster. I just snagged a sexy late 90s CIJ CAR JM66 off Reverb with matching headstock, and already ordered a set of Novak pickups to put in there.

My main question is, where can I get a pickguard for this model, ideally gold anodized? Are there other compatible models that fit?

This comes with the original bridge as well as another non-threaded one with adjustable saddles. I think I'll be fine with one of those, so probably don't need an upgrade there. Anything else? Creative wiring ideas? I put a series/parallel switch in my CP, and use the fatter series tone a lot, so I'll probably do that again.

Their site only lists US versions.

I bought an Allparts JM guard and it fit my MIJ. You can tell by the curve above the bridge pickup - on a Japanese guard it runs parallel to the top of the pickup but on a US guard it curves in close to the corner of the pickup.

I saw something on the Allparts (maybe UK?) that claimed the plastic ones "usually" fit MIJ, but not the gold. Oh well...just got the guitar today and think I'm ok with the plain ol' white.
