Jazzmasters with "modern" Tremolo Spacing?

Gold-on-white is a pretty classic combo, not exactly as groundbreaking as the purple sparkle one, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he already has a vintage Fender like that. Kevin Shields has one, too.

The one in the Noisey video looks to be the same guitar he has in his rig rundown, which has Kinmans for venues with noisy electricity. Unless he puts purple masteries on all the Squiers Fender sends him . You'll also notice the pickup covers are the wrong color.

I’m pretty sure that all the models that have this feature are still being produced and sold new, so my MF suggestion had more to do with scrolling through the page and 3/4 of results and looking at them.

Not to belabor the point or be pedantic, but if you look at the list you can quickly determine that isn’t true. I see at least 3 models no longer in production.

As for the reasoning behind moving the tremolo forward, it’s to increase the break angle at the bridge. Many users were using Buzz Stops at the time, and this is like having one built in without the drawbacks. The Classic Player was aimed at addressing all the common JM complaints and reflected the common modding trends. That’s why the frets are bigger, radius is flatter, pickups are hotter, bridge is a TOM style, etc.

Searching “Blacktop Jazzmaster” on Musicians Friend yields like 1 page that would answer this question for you incredibly faster than it’d take to write that post, wait for people to reply, etc.

Some new Fender models came with a different spacing. The tremolo unit is closer to the bridge, which increases break angle

If it's not "modern" then we call it "traditional tremolo spacing"

I agree a precise measure would be nice.

Unfortunately, I don't think Fender/Squire publishes any exact measurements for the two different spacings. In fact don't think they even mention the differences in spacing in their specs.

What the heck is "modern" tremolo spacing? You mean they fixed it so the strings don't fall off the sides of the neck any more? Like it should have been in the first place?
