I went full the fuck in on this one. I bought a Fender MIC neck for the slightly extra beef, and now waiting on some MojoTone WRHBs, with a new harness for coil tapping. Breaks the whole “it’s a Squier!” thing but I figure I can recoup some loss on the neck sell. I’d buy in parts next time.

You'll almost have an entire other guitar once you get those parts. Just get another body, and throw all the squier parts back together. Maybe keep the sweet brown body for the good parts.Debaser wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 7:59 pm

I think about a 70s thinking tele sometimes. I, like you, would get "real" WRHBs, but unless I got an old AVRI or Ventura or something, those pups would cost more than the guitar
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

True. I could of waited for Stratosphere to part one out, which is what I recommend if one doesn’t like the skinny CV neck and will be swapping out pickups. The walnut is the one for me so I went ahead with it. I still have every part, and all my mods are reversible, which is how I like to mod. If I keep the CV neck, I can dump a used completely stock CV Starcaster, a Bigsby, and set of premium WRHBs should I need to. The bridge I’m stuck with unfortunatelyseenoevil II wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 4:01 pmYou'll almost have an entire other guitar once you get those parts. I had a Duesenberg Les Trem II on my MP Starcaster and I can tell you it was absolutely glorious. Unfortunately I sold it last week due to a temporary cash flow problem. I'm currently trawling through this thread to see if the CV ones compare.alexpigment wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 12:21 pmA few years ago, I would have jumped all over this. I don't know what it is, but this just isn't piquing my interest. If the pickups are the same as on the VMs from a few years ago, then the neck pickup is way too dark even when the bridge is just right. The AOM and stopbar don't do anything for me either.
On second thought, I do wonder what would happen if you modified these with an AmPro bridge and a Duesenberg Les Trem II. Oh crap, I think I want that Walnut CV now

Recently picked one up for a ridiculous price and I absolutely love it. Pickups sound ace to me, neck is very nice-slim and very comfortable...plus look at the figuring on mine!! very 3D maple...surprised by that. Its comfy to play and overall the nicest new Squier I've played in a long time...couldnt say no.
