I have read that none of the standard aftermarket pickguards fit a VM mustang.

Damn, that IS chunky. I was leaning towards the Classic Vibe cause it has a cooler looking tortoiseshell with the sonic blue (I know, I'm a shallow prick), but I think I'll have to try a VM now.
I don’t know how the CV Mustang necks are, but my CV Jag is not chunky, but decent or average. You think you’re shallow? I bought a vintage 60s tort to put on my VM Mustang because the original was hideous and it was still cheaper than a Spitfire. :D

It did, for the most part. I had to relocate the control plate, and one side of the neck needed a little sanding.

Amazing guitar! Did you have to drill new holes for the control plate?

Hey thanks guys. Yeah, I had to fill and drill pretty much every mounting hole to get it to fit flat, and it helped that somebody opened up the screw holes already on the vintage tort--probably kept it from cracking or warping. I had a "sanman8753" tort on it before (ebay seller), which was pretty close to vintage screw placement as well.

Fender American Performers have very slim neck profiles. And by profile, I mean the distance from the surface of the fretboard to the back of the neck. Nut width is nut width, and thats not neck profile.
