Fender Vintera line?

So in every video I've seen, except the sweetwater one, the jazzmaster has a lock button on the trem. On the sweetwater page for the IBM you can see their actual photo, pretty much the only vendor I've seen actually have it in stock (though it already sold) and have a non-stock photo. But like in the video, the actual pictures show that the one they had did not have a lock button. Does anyone else find this odd?

I always see people talk about bending not being possible on vintage spec Fender guitars, and I just don't know what people must be doing.

FWIW, I think some of that type of feedback is more switching between guitars of different types. Six months ago or so I tried a PRS Blue Sky, which is vintage correct and had a fantastic setup. It played like butter and notes were easier to bend than on some of my 12'' radius guitars. Except when going back and forth in a set or practice. There is just something about that big of a jump that made that hard for me and I'd find playing leads on the Blue Sky tough when doing that. The week I played just it when it was new to get familiar with it...it was pure butter and I was very happy. Ultimately I returned it because I have to switch guitars.

I imagine some of that "tough to bend" feedback comes from people switching guitars more than, say, in the 60's and 70's when non-pros likely didn't have guitar collections. A seasoned pro can play anything (and they do). And players were just fine in the 60's and 70's bending away for some of the greatest leads we know on Fenders.

My Jaguar got that 7,25 radius and when I got it new (coming from Les Pauls) it really had some „dead spots“ where you just couldn‘t land your bend - the tone would just die off.
I had it setup and it was already another world - but the low E string regularly fell out - so we filed away the screw and made the saddle deeper - was okay - but it was the Mastery Bridge that turned it into an absolutely awesome guitar!

So as a conclusion I would say: with a proper set up and some muscle memory development you can play any guitar and radius.
Let‘s see how I‘m getting along with my future Jazzmaster (first 25,5“ scale guitar, 9,5“ radius)!

EDIT: what I forgot to mention: Thomann has already listed the Vintera line - it says 8-9 weeks until the IBM JM is available - which would be my first choice (but I‘m getting a Firemist Silver double bound JM built... so this maybe has to wait a litttle).

That's the good thing about corporate jargon bullshit, none of it means anything, you can call anything anything you dream of.

The Standard ones are the equivalent of the old "Classic" series, and the Modified ones are the equivalent of the "Classic Players". They've just renamed them.

I'm finding it a bit weird because I thought they reason they renamed the MIM Standards to "Player" was to bring them in line with the "Classic Player" naming style. But now they've renamed the "Classic Players" to "Vintera Modified"

These have been available for years under their Classic Player line. Much like the Squier Vintage Modified moved to the Classic Vibe range, so too are the Classic Player making the transition to Vintera.

The Tele Deluxe moved from a 12" neck radius to a 9.5" - which I think is a plus for me actually - but they left the Thinline and Custom at 7.25". I know this is OSG, but I started looking at them after the picture of the Custom above. I get the feeling that they only really updated certain models and the rest are just 1:1 ports of the Classic series guitars.

That could very well be. It's somewhat inconsistent when you look into the specifics.

On the Thomann website you can clearly see the lock-button - but somehow the Fender Logo is missing on the unit!

"Player" brought the naming (somewhat) in line with "Professional", "Elite", etc, with the key motivation to drop "Standard" as they have done with the American Standard.

Not a big deal, but I think there's some ongoing confusion as to the naming of the new line. "Vintera" is the name of the line. "Modified" is a suffix applied after the guitar name, for example, "60s Stratocaster Modified". Fender hasn't actually used the phrase "Vintera Modified" in official jargon.
