NGD Modern Player Starcaster

Post by dirtyclinic » Thu Jun 27, 2019 5:36 am

I got this on Saturday. $325 from the local classifieds with a gig bag that is for an acoustic but this fits in it loosely and it's better than nothing. The condition is very good. I was pretty impressed by the details on it. The finish looks great, the frets are very tidy, and the action and playability are top notch. The pickups definitely sound darker than the Gibson Semi-hollow guitars that I have but that is not a bad thing. I am glad it was the black finish because of the 3 colors available, this was the one I would want. This post is pic heavy so prepare yourselves.

That's bitchin! I'm usually not fond of black guitars, but to me black is the only way to go for semi-hollows.

Nice! Hows the neck, thin feeling?

I'd grab one of these and forget about my pre-order for Squier if I could find one :/
50,000 watts out of Mexico, this is the BorderRadio...

That's a beauty! And a great price, too. Whenever I see them for sale (which is rarely) they're usually listed for more than they sold for new.

You got a good deal for sure! The cheapest I’ve ever found a used one was for like $500 so I’ve put off buying one. Gonna try and snag one of the Squier things used when they finally come out. I only wish they’d put them out in white because the few vintage ones I’ve seen in Olympic White always looked way cooler than any of the other colors. The black looks sick too. I’ll probably end up going Mocha when the time comes.

Oh my god the double binding really makes this thing pop in black - just looks infinitely cool!

I was put off by these things for a long time until it kinda clicked that I could just approach them the same way I’d approach a Greco Les Paul or 70s Asian copy of a popular American guitar and instead of seeking faults just be ok with them for what they are. I want one so bad!

I just picked one up in may with the intent to Mod. I agree that the Fit and Finish is really good, especially the Neck.

Did you mod it yet? Did you swap the pickups?

Not Yet, but I plan to have the pickups rebuilt by Novak. I will also replace the electronics, bridge, and put a vibramate/bigsby on it.
