Maggieo, I usually shop at Lidgett's in CB, who I'm sure you're familiar with. Rob has tried to procure the RSD bridges by hook and by crook and has been foiled every time. I'd like to get some for my other JMs, too, but it just doesn't seem possible. I will get some pics of both guitars up in the next day or so.
Some nice cat on the Gretsch Talk forum has a Tele with a Bigsby and an Offset bridge complete with thimbles installed, and he wants an RSD bridge having had bad luck with a Mastery. Fender may want to realize that if they do start selling this bridge, Bigsby Tele players may be all over it as well. Don't know if this is enough for them from a remunerative point of view, but there is interest out there.

Wow, that is nice!

It'd be cool if you linked that vid from Wildwood.

Next time I'm in Omaha, I may have to come pester you to show me that beauty in person. I'm now lusting after one for a second JM. :? :fp:
Thanks! Hehe ok, I'll let you play it even.

OK, let's see if this link works. He starts off with a Strat but most of the video is with him playing the JM.

Thanks! I swear, Greg must be bipolar, because he reminds me of myself when I'm in a manic phase. Supercharged goofy! :-*
You are most welcome. He is a gargantuan force of talented and wacky nature to be sure..that "Blues Goat" thing had me almost piss myself!

I need to stop by there some time. They've got an Eastman Casio clone that I want to try out.

Not much of a photographer, but here's a quick, crappy cell phone photo of my two favorites...

Thanks for the kind words!
That would be really cool if someone reversed engineered it, if that's the correct way of putting it.

The other cool thing about this bridge that I've learned is that you can rock it back against the tail end of the thimbles and it seems to really like it there. Since the travel isn't nearly as much, it is still intoned and the saddles are oriented straight up..I'm seriously wondering if it isn't supposed to be kept that way, and not with the posts upright floating right in the middle of the thimble hole.

Here is a picture of it rocked back to the tail, and notice the saddles are pretty much oriented upwards, perpendicular to the body, so the strings sit nicely in the middle of the groove. This takes the guesswork out of trying to float the bridge exactly in the middle of the thimble holes and worrying about it migrating out of its optimal spot right in the middle. Since I mainly depress the tremolo, the strings returning to neutral only serve to pull it back into that tilted back position so it always stays put.

I mean realistically you could reverse engineer it yourself if you were so inclined, you'd just have to take the bridge apart and measure everything and take detailed photographs etc. I'm not particularly well versed in stuff like that but I'm sure some forum members here (deed_poll I'm looking at you ;D ) could help out.

I know I'd be more than wiling to pay for the files to get it into the hands of people who would love to try out the bridge but don't have custom shop money to throw around. I was hoping that Fender would eventually make the bridge standard across every single line but it doesn't seem like they're anywhere even near close to issuing it on non-custom shop items.
How would you measure it? Is there some fancy smart phone app that will give you precise measurements and take pics? Or just with a simple ruler..actually I have a set of calipers. I may do this next time I change strings. I'm not inclined to take the saddles off the base of the bridge at this point since everything is set up nicely and I don't want to screw up the intonation, but maybe I can mark with a pencil the exact position of the saddles. Well I won't promise anything but I'm a bit intrigued, and it would be cool to have the measurements.
I think a ruler and calipers'd suffice most likely, saddle measurements and stuff would really help too if you can bring yourself to take them off. I know you just got it set up etc but it'd be really appreciated.

FWIW, I float the bridge halfway between the edges of the holes. I use the trem on most songs and leave the guitar on a stand in between practices and gigs. Other than humidity affecting the strings, the guitar is totally stable and is nearly always in tune. This is true of both the pink and blue guitars.

The RSD bridge really is a brilliant piece of engineering to my thinking.

Thanks for the info! I have now set it floating in the middle of the hole as well. With it all the way against the back of the thimble on the tail end, I was getting some string creaking sounds when I was working the trem as the strings slid onto the saddle notches, when I pulled up on the trem. So into the middle it went, and the tremolo action is superb and the tuning very stable.

I am becoming a big fan of the RSD bridge.

What string gauge do you use on your awesome duo?

I use .010 - .052. D’addario NYXL. I like the tone and stability I get with them.

Sounds good. For some reason I have never actually gotten around to using a top heavy/light bottom type set like that. But now that I'm getting more into JM's I should try it.

No issues with uneven tension across the neck I am assuming correct?

None. These guitars are more stable than my CS Les Paul Special with a baseball bat neck. The sound one can get from that heavy 'E' string is one of my favorite things about this guitar and its sound. With the RSD bridge it's a perfect match. Did I mention that I play through a Supro Thunderbolt? This and the JM together are a marriage made in heaven. The soft response of the TBolt really makes the JM sound stand out. Did you mention what amp you play through?
