i wish they would make a longscale version or a "Jazzmaster Bass"
Most of them are longscale. There was only one Squier shortscale model.
My MIM jaguar player series bass is long scale and doesn't have the chrome upper horn or pickup switches. It is basically a jazzmaster bass. I like the PJ configuration, too. The asymmetrical look is cool, and I mostly use the P pickup.

I've got an American Jaguar and it's great. But honestly, it could lose the active circuit and the J pickup and I'd be totally fine with it. I've never been interested in active stuff and if you use any dirt, I don't know how you can live with the J pickup. The second it's in the mix the hum comes roaring in. I've considered putting a EMG GZR set in the Jaguar just because the GZR P is great, and its J is noiseless. The catch is that wiring inside the Jag looks like something from the space shuttle and I'd have to pay somebody to wire that set in, and it's not worth it to me.

If I could do my dream mod to the Jaguar, it would have a single P (I guess that takes out the pickup switches, although maybe you could do some weird series/parallel thingie), old-school tuners, no active, and chrome only on volume/tone plate. I'd prefer a gloss neck but not a biggie. I suppose that gets you very close to the Mexican model, but at least for me, I try to go domestic whenever I can.
