NGD - Finally joining the club! CS ‘59 Jazzmaster
I’ve waited years, hunting around for the right deal on the right Jazzmaster - well, this one popped up the other day and I couldn’t say no. Made an offer and now it’s on the way.
I usually play a CS ‘63 Tele or a Nik Huber Krautster II. This one’ll round things out nicely. I’ll have to dig back into the knowledge base here, re: setup tricks, etc.. I’m for sure gonna ditch the Buzz Stop, and after that we’ll see how it plays and sounds before I try a Mastery or something. Anyway, I’m SUPER stoked. Can’t wait till it arrives.

Thanks!
If I’m honest, I still want one in 70’s style w/maple board and black blocks & binding in sunburst, but they probably never made any lefties and I don’t wanna pay $5k+ for the Custom Shop to make me one...
This one will do nicely.

I can only dream of blocks and binding on a lefty. Well, apart from that KC neck I guess.

There is at least one w/binding and blocks out in the world right now - a Custom Shop in Burgundy Mist w/a matching headstock. It’s been sitting for years. I would’ve bought it by now if it wasn’t WAY overpriced.... There were a few others in the order as well, but they somehow sold. Also, Southpaw’s never getting my business again, due to their crappy customer service and ongoing incompetent practices, but that’s a story for another time.matthew a wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2019 9:48 pmThis is amazing - never come across a cs jm before- stunning.your name here wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2019 2:45 pmThanks!

Colour works very well with tort pick guard. Are those clay dots? Everything comes together well on this guitar. Nice find.

Looks really nice! Congrats on the new guitar!
A slight tangent here, but I've always wondered why Fender doesn't use customized decals on left handed guitars. The big part of the logo always ends up shoehorned onto the small part of the headstock. It's a quick Photoshop job - or hell, scissor job - to make it say Jazzmaster on the left and Fender on the right. Oddly, Squier *does* flip them on the Classic Vibe guitars, and the balance of text looks natural to my eyes.

+1
Fantastic score, congratulations. Enjoy it for all of us lefty dreamers
I think you'd be quite able to have that 70's style Jazzmaster using aftermarket parts, I did a quick jump on Warmoth's neck builder's page and it seems that they can indeed provide a lefty maple neck with black blocks and binding for, check it out:your name here wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2019 2:45 pm

It's not cheap but it surely is a top quality alternative to the custom shop at a fraction of the price. There's also a lefty fully loaded body on ebay that you'd just have to refinish in sunburst and you're basically done:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/LEFTY-19-Fende ... SwkfJdOPfv
Even considering stripping off the current finish and adding the cost of body & neck finish, you'd still be under 2K, way way less than Custom Shop price
... but what am I talking about... you already have a magnificent toy to play with..

I know this is technically a “‘59”, but I think I’m gonna throw my set of NOS white witch hat knobs on it. What do you all think? I’ve had ‘em for about 10 years... Time to go dig ‘em out of the parts drawer.

@Amon 7.L - I had thought about the partscaster thing and have made a couple of great ones - teles & strats, mostly - but the others I’ve built haven’t knocked my socks off. I didn’t wanna chance it this time. I’ve had fantastic luck with Custom Shop guitars in the past, so I figure this was the right move.
Maybe in the future I’ll just commission someone else to build the sunburst B&B Jazzmaster. Someone who I know can nail it. If Danocaster would’ve agreed to do a lefty for me back when he was building, it woulda been him. Oh well.
Here’s the dream in my head. This exact look and aging:
