Last fall I picked up this Mexican 90s Duo Sonic and I'm finally posting about it now so it's not exactly a NGD, but here it is. I know these models pretty well as I used to have the exact same one about 5 years ago that I parted ways with. I always thought it would be a cool instrument for one of my kids, but ultimately I always really enjoyed picking it up and playing it myself.
Over the last 3 years I have always been on the lookout for these on the second hand market and I have gone through a few more recent duo's (namely the squire CV, and the more recent Mexican re-issue), but for some reason i didn't bond with them as much as the 90s one i had). This one came up for a really good price ($300 CDN) and i snapped it up. It's in REALLY good shape. zero fret wear, couple minor scuffs to the finish and that's it. After a set up, some new knobs, and new pickguard, it's pretty perfect. To me it's pretty much the closest version to what the 50s duo sonics were.
Yes the scale is really short, but it's still very playable and i find i go to it more than most of my other guitars.
here's some pics:

These are def. cool, I played one my friend modded for a while - the scale wasn’t the issue for me as much as the size of the body feeling tiny; I think there’s less body between the bridge and strap button than a standard Duo, they feel much smaller than a Mustang anyway.
King Buzzo: I love when people come up to me and say “Your guitar sound was better on Stoner Witch, when you used a Les Paul. “...I used a Fender Mustang reissue on that, dumbass!

Nice guitar, congrats! I really like that those necks have a capped maple fretboard and no skunk-stripe.

I wish I could buy those bridge assemblies as an aftermarket part.
