I bought both just to be safe
Sold the Gibsons and bought these, delighted. Anyone know is the red one a 62 reissue? It’s crafted in Japan and the serial number dates it from 99-02 I think

Congrats! They both look good on that couch, too. Bonus points.
Did your thread about identifying the Jag help you buy it?

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

Yes! I hate how cliched this story is but I was drinking one night and the next morning I woke up and I had bought it, lovely guitar though

What red is the Jazzmaster? Is is just the light? I had a Japanese CAR JM, but the shade was different.

Some of the MIJs were made in a colour called OCR - "Old Candy Apple Red:, which is halfway to Oxblood. There was also an OLB (Old Lake Placid Blue), like my Jaguar.
The OP's looks like normal CAR, but if yours was a darker shade, maybe it was an OCR like this:
In any case, congrats on the new guitars. MIJ Offsets are awesome guitars.

Interesting, thanks lad. Any idea of it’s a 62 reissue?mbene085 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 10:19 amSome of the MIJs were made in a colour called OCR - "Old Candy Apple Red:, which is halfway to Oxblood. There was also an OLB (Old Lake Placid Blue), like my Jaguar.

Well, most of the regular MIJ Jazzmasters are sort-of 62 reissues, but they have poly finishes and inaccurate pickups. I don't believe they were ever officially called reissues, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.ninesninesnines wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 10:36 amInteresting, thanks lad. Wow. Good eye... and recollection of history -- that's what I had. I ultimately gave it up because I didn't care for the glossy neck on it. The neck shape was not the most pleasing, either.mbene085 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 10:19 amSome of the MIJs were made in a colour called OCR - "Old Candy Apple Red:, which is halfway to Oxblood. A beautiful pair of guitars! Can you tell us more about the Blonde/White Jaguar?

It's a mid 90s MIJ anniversary jaguar. They came in Olympic white with gold hardware.
My buddy Matt had a new one when we were teenagers. 94 or 95 I think. Much more white than this. Most of the ones you see now have all yellowed over time

Yeah it’s a 94 but just for info they haven’t yellowed over time, the colour is blonde, works really well with the gold hardware. Here’s a thread with the original ad: http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... php?t=1844
